SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING FAIR

Through the series of photo’s you can track the progress that our two school teams made, from all coming together for the initial instructions with the other 10 competing teams, to the tasks.

Both year 7/8 and yr 5/6 teams attempted the task of constructing a bed. The year 7/8 team were second overall to complete this challenge and then moved on to creating a solar panel light and alarm that would wake up the sleeper. They had to configure electronics, timers and switches whilst also constructing materials to form apparatus that would support solar panels and hold the electronic equipment.
In total the students worked as a team for two and a half hours to complete as many tasks as possible whilst earning points through successes as well as bonus points for clean and tidy workstations.
This was the first time that this science and engineering event has been held in far Northland and shall return next year with more teams hopefully taking part.
Well done to all students. Teamwork, recognising strengths in oneself as well as others and perseverance were achieved by all!
