MOBILE PHONES

We are finding some students becoming increasingly distracted from learning by using mobile phones in the classroom. We are also needing to respond to some instances of inappropriate use of these devices. Please be reminded that mobile phones are not to be brought to school by students in Years 1 to 10. When there is a need for students to make phone contact with whanau they are able to come to the office to make those calls. Students who are found to have phones with them will be asked to hand them in until the end of the day. If we have any students repeatedly bringing in mobile phones we will hold the phones and ask you to come in and collect them.

As a  privilege, senior students may bring mobile phones to school and will sometimes use them in their classes however students in these year levels have good access to digital learning technologies within the learning programmes so there is no actual need for mobile phones to be brought to school. Senior students are asked to hand phones in at the beginning of each lesson and the collect them at the end of each lesson.
