Middle School

Hi I’m Bev Baines and as well as being homeroom teacher for the Level 3 students in years 7-9 I also teach Biblical Studies to the Level 4 students.  This term we are studying The Parables of Jesus and learning how we can apply these principles in our own lives.

I love working in a Christian School and feel blessed to be able to teach from a Christian World View. It is a joy to be able to freely teach from the word of God.

Another roll I fill is that of Specialist Classroom Teacher (SCT).

The aim of the SCT role is to contribute to enhancement of quality teaching practices by providing support for the professional growth of other teachers in the school. This in turn is aimed at improving learning and achievement outcomes for all students, especially those most at risk of underachievement. This professional learning support could be through:

  • supporting and assisting beginning teachers to develop and demonstrate effective teaching practices
  • supporting and assisting beginning teachers to maintain a purposeful learning environment that engages students
  • supporting and assisting other teachers in the school with effective teaching practices and maintaining a purposeful learning environment that engages students
  • supporting and assisting teachers to expand their knowledge, skills and attributes to increase teaching effectiveness
  • encouraging collaborative and shared practice
  • providing leadership in school-wide professional learning and development.

Basically this means I am a support person in any area where help is needed. My door is always open and I work alongside my colleagues in a collegial, non-judgemental manner. I work with wonderful staff and we all support and encourage one another.
