Class Dojo. Mrs Hutching will be sending invites over the holiday so students can sign into Class Dojo and be ready for learning from the start of term 2 on the 15th of April.
Kaikohe Juniors – Year 1-8
All communication and learning will be directed out from Classdojo. Teachers have set up learning tasks in Studyladder for groups – enough for a couple of weeks. And also two other links for reading. Please familiarise/master just 3 sites first.
Kaikohe Seniors – Year 9-13
Home learning: Teachers have set up Google Classrooms for all of their courses. All students with an internet connection at home have now been invited to join their online Google Classrooms. Students are to check their Gmail and accept the invitation to join each subject’s Google Classroom.
Within each Google Classroom teachers will share and update daily their learning programmes.
What to expect: Teachers will make classroom announcements, create assignments, attach links and assign learning tasks from other online learning programmes such as Education Perfect, mystudyseries, LearnCoach and learn.concord.org.
Students and teachers will be able to receive immediate feedback and see how they are going in their learning in real-time.
Zoom: From Term 2 15th April, teachers will be using Zoom to invite students to join virtual classrooms for interactive tutorial lessons in each subject. Students and teachers will be able to see and talk to one another, and teachers will be able to present PowerPoints, videos and documents to the students during these 40-minute tutorial sessions.
NB: It is essential the students check their Gmail very regularly once term 2 starts again to keep up with us and their courses.
Teachers have collated physical printed learning resources for students who do not have internet access. These will be individually labelled and packed and available for parents/whanau to pick up at the main office from 12 pm Wednesday 25 March.
What to expect:
Teachers will give clear written learning information and instructions for the related student activities. Solutions/exemplars will be provided also for the student activities so that students can check how they are going in their learning as they are working through the activities.
Success: Parents/whanau have a unique opportunity to spend time together discussing and assisting with the learning. We are confident that this will be a rewarding time for our students and whanau. I will love to hear ‘good news’ learning stories.
If you have any questions at all during this time of self-isolation, please call Yvonne Vujcich 0274915218. I am available to help, and I believe that by working together we will ensure your students learning year will proceed well. Keep in touch.
May God’s peace and love be with you all.
