THIS WEEK’S MEMORY VERSE
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I loved you, that you also love one another.

Tena koutou whanau ma – warm greetings to everyone
Kua tata ke tatou ki te mutunga o te wahanga nei – we are already at the close of this term. Even though we are being blessed with beautiful weather, we are now looking forward to the warmer months ahead. The term has passed quickly and despite a bumpy ride with some inappropriate behaviour, the Lord has brought us through as we have pressed into Him and the recent weeks have been peaceful and productive.
A quick reminder that school is closed tomorrow. Over the next few days all teaching staff are attending a Christian Schools PLD event at Kingsway School in Orewa, Auckland. We are eager to rub shoulders with other Christian Educators as we fellowship and learn together to bring new skills and knowledge into the school when we return next term.
Reporting: The third cycle of reporting to whanau this term is completed with Secondary and Primary reports coming every three weeks – this continues next term. One difference for next term is that the Primary reports will now be emailed to whanau in the same way the Secondary reports are. We will continue to print off reports for anyone who needs them.
Resignation: Recently I sent an email message to all whanau announcing my resignation from my position as Principal of this school at the end of the year. – the following is what I wrote…
As eloquently expressed in the book of Ecclesiastes, there is a season for everything.
At staff prayer and briefing this morning I announced that I had put my resignation in to the Board last night. I will be finishing as Principal of Kaikohe Christian School at the end of the year but will remain on duty until on January 27th.
I was appointed to start here in 2014 and thought it would be for about 5 years but His ways are not my ways and His thoughts are not my thoughts and 12 years later the school is a different school and I am a different man to the one who first came here. I pray that this is to His Glory. Although I am uncertain about the next season for me, I am at peace with the decision and know that the school is ready for the next season also.
Wishing you all a wonderful break with children and whanau.
Next term starts on Monday July 14th
Blessings to all

STUDENT NOTICES
FOR PARENTS AND WHANAU
Student safety
Student safety is of paramount importance. Schools are responsible for regularly reminding caregivers and students on how to keep students safe before, during and after using a school bus.
We’ve put together some information that you may like to use in a newsletter to parents:
Reminders for parents and caregivers:
- Caregivers are responsible for safely transporting their children to and from their school bus stop and as such are best placed to decide the safest way to do this.
- Stick to the speed limit: it’s 20kph when passing a stopped school bus (on either side of the road).
- Drop your tamariki off on the same side of the road as the bus stop.
- Teach your tamariki to always get out of the car on the side closest to the curb.
- Always take your tamariki to and from the bus-stop.
- Teach your tamariki not to run across the road.
- Remind your tamariki on how to keep safe boarding and disembarking the bus:
o While waiting at the bus stop, keep well back from the road.
o Wait until the bus has completely stopped and the door opens before getting on.
o After getting off the bus, stand well back from the road and wait until the bus has gone and you can see clearly before moving.
The New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) has safety advice that on their website that you may find useful: Safety on buses | NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi.
If you have any questions about any of the above, or any about school transport assistance, please get in touch with me – as always, I’m happy to help.

WHAT ARE ATTENDANCE DUES?
The Ministry of Education does not fund building related costs at our School. Attendance Dues are only used to pay for building related costs. They can not be used for any other purposes. Paying Attendance Dues is a condition of enrolment for all students attending our School. Attendance Dues are compulsory – there is a legal requirement for parents and caregivers to pay Attendance Dues under the Education and Training Act 2020. They are not a donation.
