THIS WEEK’S MEMORY VERSE

8. Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, And for His wonderful works to the children. 9. For He satisfies the longing soul, And fills the hungry soul with goodness.

Psalms  107:8-9

Principles Notice

Tena koutou whanau ma – warm greetings to everyone.

It is great to see students trying harder more and more to get the little things (which are actually really important) right, such as uniform and punctuality. As always of course, there is room for improvement but I want to acknowledge al of our students who are constantly putting themselves out there and doing the right thing.
There is some concern that unkind words are creeping into the student relationships and we are encouraging and modeling what it looks like to conduct ourselves in the light of our standing in Jesus. Please help us by reinforcing the message of Christ, especially in times of relational challenge – we are called to love one another.
You are most likely aware of some very big changes that have been announced by the Minister of Education recently. These changes in focus and direction will definitely have an impact on the school, but change isn’t a bad thing. We look at the intent, set our goals and work together to make things even better. Of course, we need to be wise when embracing change, but staying connected to God, with eyes open, and working together, the possibilities are promising.
On the near horizon is new legislation around attendance and I will be communicating the stronger emphasis on regular attendance in upcoming comms to you all. In a nutshell, we are required to have systems in place to quickly respond to absences at varying levels. The emphasis is to support regular attendance and success at school and will be supported by people in the Attendance Service.
Also in the near future, schools in NZ will be delivering the refreshed curriculum – in a sense, we are already working in this space through literacy and math’s, so there will be little noticeable difference in what school ‘looks like’ here. And of course, good teaching is always good teaching in whatever new approach or trend is in vogue so our approach is always going to be asking, “Is what we are doing good for our children?”

Mark 12:28-34
28 One of the scribes came up and heard them arguing, and recognizing that He had answered them well, asked Him, “What commandment is the [r]foremost of all?” 29 Jesus answered, “The [s]foremost is, ‘Hear, Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord is one; 30 and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ 31 The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” 32 And the scribe said to Him, “Well said, Teacher; You have truly stated that He is One, and there is no other besides Him; 33 and to love Him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the strength, and to love one’s neighbor as oneself, is much more than all the burnt offerings and sacrifices.” 34 When Jesus saw that he had answered intelligently, He said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” And then, no one dared any longer to question Him.

Blessings to all

SEEDLINGS
Kia ora Whanau,
We are on the look out for anyone who may have any seeds or plants that they would like to donate, If you have any of these at home that you no longer need and are happy to donate we would love to give them a home and would much appreciate any donations that come our way, you are more than welcome to drop these off at our school office.

YEAR 5/6
In our year 5/6 class, we have really been focusing on our group work. How we work in a team, and particularly, that being kind and gentle to one another is more important than the task in front of us. The spaghetti-marshmallow tower challenge and the no-hands-cup-pyramid challenge sure did get heated fast…but there was some great encouragement!

WHAT ARE ATTENDANCE DUES?

The Ministry of Education does not fund building related costs at our School. Attendance Dues are only used to pay for building related costs. They can not be used for any other purposes.  Paying Attendance Dues is a condition of enrolment for all students attending our School. Attendance Dues are compulsory – there is a legal requirement for parents and caregivers to pay Attendance Dues under the Education and Training Act 2020. They are not a donation.
