THIS WEEK’S MEMORY VERSE

Every good gift and ever perfect gift is from above,  and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.

Principles Notice

Kia ora whanau,

Day 1 Term 2 we will be having a pohiri for four new students. Term 1 has come and gone very quickly because we have been full on since day 1. We had our Girls and Boys camp the first week of kura and the the primary have just completed theirs. In week 2 we established our Sports Academy which has blossomed. We had ERO visit us in week 6 and I congratulate our staff in keeping a professional demure throughout. Our areas that we need to give immediate attention to is Attendance, Academia, and Community engagement. Our attendance has increased from 67% in 2025 to average 83%, community engagement is a priority and we will strive to connect with all stakeholders.  Our next whanau kura hui is in week 2 Wednesday the 29th April at 6 pm. Staff are working hard to attend to Literacy and Numeracy from Primary to Secondary.
We have hosted the Harvest Christian School for an Athletics Day, we had our first Swimming Sports Day, Our staff and students have supported and participated in the Years 7-8 Touch Tournament. All of the above have been very successful.
What to look forward to in Term 2. We start Mau Rakau at Year 10 and we are blessed with Matua Paul Wihongi coming in to tutor. In week 8 we will be hosting two small Christian schools; Otamatea and Kaitaia Christian kura for Top Town. It is our way of helping out the small Christian kura to walk in Kotahitanga. Last Secondary uniforms. Starting Term 2 every student must have a tie to wear with their white shirt. If the kura has their size blazer they must purchase. No matter if you have one child or three the cost for jackets and ties is only twenty dollars per week until paid off. Blazers we paid $240 and selling them for $200 and ties we paid $35 and selling them for $25. We have ensured that we have endeavored to ensure that this uniform is affordable for all.
Have a wonderful break and come back refreshed.

“Kia hora te marino, kia hakapapa pounamu te moana, kia tere karohirohi I mua I tou huarahi” “May calm be spread around you, may the sea glisten like greenstone, and the shimmer of summer dance across your path”.

TEACHERS NOTICES

Last week the Year 11’s & 12’s completed a two day communications and assertiveness course. Quite a few of them stepped out of their comfort zones and learnt some great new skills. They also all gained 10 NCEA credits along the way so congratulations! Thanks Tiana for your support over both days it was really appreciated.

The Year 10’s have been hard at work in tech with Mr Torr turning old pallets into these awesome stools. It’s pretty cool seeing something old get a whole new life and come out looking brand new. We’re so blessed to have Mr Torr building our tech class from the ground up and giving our students these kinds of hands on opportunities to learn these skills. Awesome mahi! Thank you Mr Torr!

Hospice Mid-Northland is hosting a family-friendly Carnival Day here in Kerikeri, and it’s shaping up to be a great day out for the community.

There will be:

  • Bouncy castles
  • Face painting
  • Classic games like sack races and three-legged races
  • Bargain stalls
  • Vintage and classic cars on display

It’s a relaxed, fun day aimed at bringing families together while also raising awareness of the work Hospice does in the community.

WHAT ARE ATTENDANCE DUES?

The Ministry of Education does not fund building related costs at our School. Attendance Dues are only used to pay for building related costs. They can not be used for any other purposes.  Paying Attendance Dues is a condition of enrolment for all students attending our School. Attendance Dues are compulsory – there is a legal requirement for parents and caregivers to pay Attendance Dues under the Education and Training Act 2020. They are not a donation.
