THIS WEEK’S MEMORY VERSE

Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.

Ephesians 4:2

 PRINCIPAL’S NOTICE

Tena koutou whanau ma – warm greetings to everyone.

Welcome back to the new term – it promises to be Just as ‘full-on’ as term one, and we are excited to see how the Lord is moving in this place – opportunities and challenges alike.

I have been very impressed with the start to the term that our students have made – there is definitely a strong sense of motivation and engagement, coupled with healthy attendance and punctuality. Kia kaha, kia maia, kia manawanui tatou.

I would like to take this opportunity to warmly welcome matua Te Rangi Allen back into the school as he takes up a position to help us transition a new teacher into the school for the period of time that Mrs Tui Whiu is on maternity leave. It is proving difficult to recruit a teacher into the role Tui filled in the school and we are grateful that Te Rangi has made himself available to support us. Please pray with us for an English/Biblical Studies/History teacher to join the team.

The start of this term sees the formal launch of our participation with Skool – Loop, the app we have chosen to strengthen our communications with whanau and community. The app is additional to our current platforms which include website, newsletters, Class Dojo and Facebook. The Skool Loop app is available as a free download through the Play Store or on the Apple App Store – Here is the link.

You will be aware that the new legislation requiring student phones to be away for the day comes into effect as from the beginning of this term. For us this is no change really because we have had that expectation for some time now. I am pleased to report that students have really embraced this Kaupapa as have our staff who will model these expectations as well.

Another new feature of the school day is the new speed restrictions on the road outside the school gates – each day in the morning and afternoon, to coincide with students arriving and leaving school, the road speed is reduced to 30km/hr. This is to further help us ensure safety at these peak times of traffic and pedestrian movements. Whanau can also help out by not parking outside the school at these times so that our vision up and down the road is not impeded, and also to enable safe bus pick-ups.

Congratulations to our students and Kaiako who represented us so well at the Taitokerau Kapa Haka festival. Here is an excerpt from matua Te Hurihanga Rihari’s panui to his ropu hahe…

Te Tai Tokerau In Okaihau – Secondary Schools Kapa Haka Festival 2024

– Rachel and I attended the Te Tai Tokerau Secondary Schools Kapa Haka Festival 2024 in

Okaihau, where hundreds of people were in attendance. The Kaikohe Christian School Kapa

Haka performance was an outstanding testimony and witness of the Gospel in Te Reo Maori.

The students looked magnificent wearing their full cultural costume.

From a one day visit by Kaikohe Christian School students and staff to Rangihoua recently,

their two tutors (a mother and a son) composed and created their brand new performance

of their entry and exit, based on what they experienced and heard. Their compositions were

skilfully learnt by the students in a very short period of time. They were honouring and

glorifying of God, while laying a spiritual challenge to the hundreds of spectators. No School

was able to do what they did and it was anointed by the Holy Spirit. This is the Gospel in

action, reaching Te Tai Tokerau Schools, whanau, staff, judges and volunteers in their realms

and spheres of influence. An incredible testimony, which we loved and felt privileged to see.

PEDESTRIAN CROSSING HELPERS NEEDED!!

Kia ora Parents & Caregivers

We are desperately seeking parents to help supervise our Pedestrian Crossing. We are wanting Parents to become part of a roster to man the pedestrian crossing after school? It would alleviate the pressure on staff and a very caring parent, who is there every school day! If you are interested please let the office know or see our dedicated road Patrols after school.

Thanks,
Theresia

SKOOL LOOP APP

Kia ora Whanau

Before the terms finishes we will be updating our online website and communication with you all. We are ensuring that our communication with you is easier, quicker and more efficient. You may or not be aware of a new app service to schools call Skool Loop.

This App is a personalised app for our school and will allow us to keep you all updated with school information, news, calendar events and contact information. We are asking you all if you please can download the app called Skool Loop.

I have attached a step by step on how to download the App.

WHAT ARE ATTENDANCE DUES?

The Ministry of Education does not fund building related costs at our School. Attendance Dues are only used to pay for building related costs. They can not be used for any other purposes.  Paying Attendance Dues is a condition of enrolment for all students attending our School. Attendance Dues are compulsory – there is a legal requirement for parents and caregivers to pay Attendance Dues under the Education and Training Act 2020. They are not a donation.
