NOTICES:

ALERT LEVEL 2 – WHAT THAT MEANS FOR OUR SCHOOL?

For all of New Zealand excluding Auckland region Alert Level 2 applies since 6 am Sunday 28th February 2021 for 7 days or until further notice.

Schools are open to everyone and all children must attend. 

  • At Alert Level 2 the disease is contained but there is still risk of community transmission
  • It is safe for children and staff to attend school and for school as there will be appropriate measures in place, including for children and staff vulnerable to severe illness
  • Schools are not classified as gatherings and a range of events and activities can go ahead
  • We however will limit gatherings to on-site only and will not participate in any inter-school activities or events
  • We will not host other groups on site until we return to Level 1
  • Schools will close for cleaning and contact tracing if there is a confirmed case who was infectious when at school
  • Face coverings are not required at school or on any school transport.  This includes charter buses hired by the school to transport students and staff.  Anyone who chooses to wear a face covering in our school will be supported to do so

Sick people must stay at home.

  • We encourage you strongly to seek medical advice if you have COVID-like symptoms and get tested if advised to do so.
  • If anyone displays relevant symptoms of COVID-19, tests positive for COVID 19, or has been in close contact with someone who tests positive for COVID-19, you must self-isolate.

We have a contact tracing system in place – entry on site is conditional upon recording your details. YOU MUST SIGN IN @ THE SCHOOL OFFICE:

  • Drop your children off and pick them up outside the School Gates

Fundamental public health measures continue to apply:

  • Physical distancing (not touching and not breathing on each other at Alert Level 2)
  • Hand hygiene
  • Cough and sneeze etiquette
  • Regularly cleaning and disinfecting high touch surfaces.

As we are operating at an Alert level 2 again unfortunately we are unable to operate in schools until we are at an Alert level 1.
If children are presenting with a sore throat, dental infection, skin infection or headlice etc to please contact:
1) General Practitioner (Doctor) or
2) IMOKO Telehealth Team who assist in “Empirical Treatment”on 0508 44 66 56  or
3) Rheumatic Fever team on 021 245 2960 –  and we can log the case on their behalf.

* Stay home if you are unwell
* Cough and sneeze into your elbow or into a tissue (throw into bin immediately)
* Wash Hands for 20 seconds
* Dry hands thoroughly or hand sanitize
* No sharing drinks or food

POSTPONEMENT OF WAIMATE NORTH CAMPUS SCHOOL CAMP:

                                                                       

Unfortunately due to the Alert Level 2 status we are now in, it has been decided to postpone until a later date, the Waimate North Campus School Camp that was scheduled for 3 – 5 March at Coopers Beach.

Notice has been given to the families of all the students by the Waimate North Campus Staff.

EVENTS:

2 – 4 MARCH KAIKOHE CAMPUS PRIMARY SCHOOL CAMP WAITANGI CAMPING GROUND:

 

This camp has a social studies focus that ties into our Social Studies work this term – Explorers and the spread of the gospel across Te Tai Tokerau.
  • Thank you to all the Parents and Caregivers who have come on board to help out.
  • Extra precautions have been put in place in line with COVID 19 Risk Management to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all.

9 MARCH BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING – KAIKOHE CAMPUS 4 PM:

Copies of the agenda of the open session, and associated reports, will be available from the school office, at least two working days before the meeting.

25 MARCH KAIKOHE YRS 1 – 8 MARSDEN CROSS TRIP – OIHI BAY:

     KAIKOHE CAMPUS YRS 5 – 8 NOHO – OVERNIGHT SLEEPOVER:

  • To accommodate the entire Primary the Yr 1-6 children will go during the school day and return at 2:30pm.
  • Whaea Lana’s class will travel out at the end of the day, stay at Marsden Cross to hopefully hear and see kiwi, then return to school for a noho.
  • Years 5 – 8 will be sleeping over after at the Kaikohe Campus after the School Trip.

1 APRIL – WHOLE SCHOOL BOOK DAY FUN:

Students and teachers alike will be asked to come to school dressed as their favourite book character.

2 APRIL – 6 APRIL EASTER – NO SCHOOL:

  • Good Friday 2nd April        no school
  • Easter Monday 5th April    no school
  • Easter Tuesday 6th April    no school

15 APRIL KAIKOHE CAMPUS – PRIMARY WHANAU ATHLETICS DAY:

All parents and whanau are most welcome to support and encourage their tamariki.

ATTENDANCE:

Reminder:  Parents / Caregivers please phone our School Office on 09 4011 873 or email by 9 am in mornings should your child / children be absent.

Should we miss your call, please leave a message on our answering phone:

Please advise the following details:

  • The student’s name
  • The absence reason
  • When they are likely to return to school

Failure to do so will result in Follow up action for ‘Truancy’, as part of the ‘Rock On Truancy Project’.

You may receive a text, email, phone call and where serious Truancy occurs a ‘Rock On Letter’.

ARRIVING LATE TO SCHOOL (KAIKOHE CAMPUS):

  • Any student arriving late to School is required to sign in at the School Office upon arrival
  • Parents of young students who arrive late, will need to sign them in before dropping them off to their class
  • At the first class / form time of the day, the School Roll is marked and any marked ‘absent’ will be followed up as noted above, for attendance absences
  • It’s important your children arrive to school on time, as this too is considered a form of Truancy

VISITORS TO OUR KAIKOHE SCHOOL CAMPUS:

All visitors who enter our School Grounds are required to sign in / out at our School Office

  • We take seriously the security and welfare of our students and therefore require Parents and Visitors adhere to this requirement
  • If it’s before the first school bell and you’re just dropping your children off and immediately leaving, you won’t need to sign in/out
  • If you remain onsite, you will be considered as a ‘Visitor’ and therefore will need to sign in / out at the School Office
  • If you arrive early to pick up your child / children and it’s before the final school bell, you will need to sign your child out, at the School Office

BREAKFAST CLUB – KAIKOHE CAMPUS EVERY WEDNESDAY & FRIDAY:

 

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day so please encourage your children to come to Narnia between 8:20 am-8.45 am for kai.
  • If anyone has jams to donate, please hand in to the Office.
  • We also need volunteer helpers to set up and clear up.
  • Please get in touch with David Prickett if you can support this mahi.

Starts Thursday 18 February, 3.30 – 5.15pm at Cornerstone, Kerikeri.
  • Come and have some fun, and make new friends, while learning many life skills.
