 PRINCIPAL’S NOTICE

Tena koutou whanau ma – warm greetings to everyone. He mihi mahana tenei ki a koutou. Welcome back to the final term for 2022.

It was fantastic to see almost all of our students back at school today – we are hoping and praying for a great run to the end of the year with excellent attendance and outcomes for all. This term is relatively short, ending on December the 9th, which is just 8 weeks away. Our senior students begin their NCEA external exams on the 7th November, just 3 weeks away and for many of our students, there is still important work to complete to ensure they are ready. Once again, it is vitally important that our students are attending and engaging in the learning every day. Our Term 3 attendance statistics show that we were unable to achieve 80% attendance for any week that term, and of course this is a serious challenge facing school and whanau alike.

You will have read last term that we have implemented an incentives programme to encourage students to come every day they can – for many the prospect of a trip away at the end of the year is motivating so we are looking forward to seeing a good result from this initiative.

Many of you will now have seen that the ‘Shaw House’ has been removed from the campus – we are very excited that this now opens the pathway for the new build to begin. This is something many have been praying for and we join with Heart of The North in lifting the project up to God for provision and favour.

Our school lunch programme is not working well. I reported last term that our uptake is really limited with an average of only 52 students eating a school lunch each day. I would welcome whanau feedback about how we can make this programme work better and I have met with the lunch providers to let them know we are surveying students to try and discover what could work better and improve uptake.

Because the term is a short one, many of the planned events will come up quickly so please check into the website to keep up to date. We’ll keep updating it with any new items regularly.

Nga mihi mahana

David

May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

KERIKERI BUS RUN

Due to the Kerikeri Road repairs starting next week on the 25th Oct for 3 weeks, there will be changes to the bus schedule.

In the morning the bus will leave 15 minutes earlier at 7.45am from the Proctor Library.

All pick ups along Kerikeri Road in the morning will have to come to the Library for pick up, as the bus will go via Waipapa to Waimate then Kaikohe.

In the afternoon the bus cannot stop along Kerikeri road so all Kerikeri Rd drop offs (Old Packhouse market and Hospice) the parents will have to collect from the Library.

  2022 Senior Derived Grade Exams  Week 2 Term 4, 25 to 27 October 2022

PARENT AND STUDENT EXAMINATION INFORMATION – READ CAREFULLY.

NB: NO CELL PHONES OR OTHER E-DEVICES ARE ALLOWED IN THE EXAM ROOM.

Exam venue: Make sure you know whether you exam is in the hall or in a small room for very low numbers of students only

When you go into the exam venue you will have to leave your bags at the front or back of the room. Get everything you need from them before you go in.  Things YOU need to bring: 2 pens (blue or black), pencil, ruler, eraser, sharpener, a suitable calculator for math’s/science subjects. NB: This equipment will NOT be provided by the supervisor.

At 8:50 am or /12:50 am line up in your classes before the hall, ready to go in to the exam. Your supervisors will tell you where you are to sit.  You are to follow all instructions quickly and quietly.

Once the exam begins, you may not talk and you must listen and follow all the instructions given by your supervisor at all times.  If you need to speak to the supervisor, put your hand up and wait until they come, then talk to the supervisor very quietly.  This is so you do not disrupt other peoples’ concentration.

If you are disruptive, or attempt to communicate with another student, you will have your exam taken from you and you will have to go to a separate room until the exam finishes.  This is a serious breach of NZQA exam protocol and conditions and will be investigated.

If you finish an exam early make sure you check your work thoroughly: Have you attempted all questions as best you can? Do your answers make sense?  Have you made any silly mistakes which need correcting? Have you read the questions carefully?  Is your working and answer clearly set out and readable?  When you have finished thoroughly checking your exam, put your hand up and the supervisor will check it and take it.  You will not be allowed to leave the exam until the minimum time is reached – this is given on the exam timetable, if you think you will finish early take in some extra study materials.

NB: These exams give an opportunity for you to experience exam conditions similar to your NZQA external examinations at the end of the year. These exam grades may also be used as a derived grade if an unexpected event happens on the day of your exam.

If you are absent for an exam because you are ill then a parent or caregiver needs to inform the school by 9 am.

Nga mihi mahana,
Yvonne Vujcich

Free Delivery Expiry Date is highlighted in the email

No administration needed by School Office or Teachers in handing out codes

Emails sent by a “real person” so any queries emailed back from parents are resolved quickly by PhotoLife

100% more environmentally friendly – minimising paper; printing inks and printing process

This year a higher number of Students are Absent so this system does ensure the Key Code gets to the parents regardless

School Sport NZ, in partnership with University and Tertiary Sport New Zealand, is proud to bring you the 5th edition of the NZTG in the 2022 term 3 holidays in the beautiful surrounds of Mount Maunganui.

The New Zealand Teachers Games (NZTG) is an opportunity for educators and support staff to have fun with their colleagues, to compete seriously or socially and to enjoy each other’s company on the sports field. It provides a setting away from the pressures of school and tertiary institutions for all staff to relax, to network socially and professionally and to experience all the fun that being physically active, and part of a team can bring.

Open to anyone on the payroll of Early Childhood Centres, Primary Schools, Secondary Schools, and Tertiary Institutions. With options for all levels of ability, fitness, and competitiveness, the NZTG has something for everyone so why not get a big bunch of your colleagues (or the whole team!!) together and GET YOUR GAME ON!

Sport is a big part the landscape in NZ schools and tertiary institutions. It develops culture and pride and is a key engagement vehicle for students in learning, in their institution, and within their wider community. Sport can contribute to academic and social outcomes with clear links to key curriculum competencies including Relating to Others, Participating & Contributing and Managing Self.

NZTG seeks to use sport to provide schools and tertiary institutions with team building and networking opportunities, creating positive health and well-being experiences for staff and encourages all to be a part of providing quality sport opportunities for their students.
